If you are contemplating buying your next home in Metuchen then more than likely you are looking to find the right lifestyle for your family...I can help you.
Metuchen is also known as the "Brainy Borough" because of its history of affluent professionals, literary figures and artists. Its rich history started as a town in the mid 18th century.
You still can find luxury homes for sale from the Victorian era. Graham Avenue located by Tommys Pond and YMCA areas offers some of those historic homes including the prior estate of New Jersey ex-governor (George Silzer) built in 1867 (Graham Avenue).
If you are looking for more visibility but still in the historic type luxurious market then Hillside Avenue, Grove Avenue or part of Middlesex Avenue (Route 27) may be more appropriate. Hillside Avenue offers charming Colonials and other architectural styles full of history on larger lot size and longer driveway. Those homes typically offer living space upward 3,000/4,000 square feet.
For those desiring a more discreet lifestyle, the areas toward the Metuchen Library and Woodwild Park could be considered (Linden Ave, Oak Ave, Chestnut Ave...).
Other areas in Metuchen are what I like to call paradise-islands or smaller divisions located in a cul-de-sac or Court in between other streets. They do provide a more secluded lifestyle while being right in town
Such are Stirling Court, Brockton Ct, Rayle Ct or Tulsa Avenue. You probably would not find them on your own
The Metuchen train station is offering commuters to New York City a quick and easy commute. If you need to be within few hundred feet only then Woodbridge Avenue and Hillside Avenue areas could be good candidates to start with...
Want a view on the Metuchen Golf and Country Club? It wont be easy but not impossible
Metuchen has also a few quiet parks and playgrounds to bring smiles to the younger ones on a cool sunny day...such as the Centennial Park (13 acres), Thomas Pond Park, Olmezer Park and more. Tennis Courts in Oakland Park (Oakland Ave.) or the Metuchen Municipal Pool (Lake Ave.) offer more athletic activities to the Metuchenites.
Metuchen along the years has kept the spirit of small town USA and has a unique historic character and enjoyable neighborly friendliness. Something you won't find in many other cities...
Main Street features smaller stores including cafes, restaurants and other quaint places (Metuchen Main St, New St
) that you might very quickly fall in love with.
Metuchen is surrounded by the Edison Township and sometimes it may be difficult to know if a specific home is part of Metuchen or Edison
Metuchen is just minutes away from the New Jersey turnpike, Garden state parkway, Interstate 287 and other main routes and major shopping malls (Menlo Park mall and Woodbridge Center mall). Its central location makes it also an easy commute to Newark, Trenton, Rutgers University and Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick.
